Paris Fashion Week earned media value hit a record $795.6 million, and Dior drove 91% of the growth
By Zain·
Karla Otto and Lefty put spring 2027 Paris at $795.6 million in Instagram earned media value, up 59%. Strip out Dior and the rise shrinks to 6.3%.
Paris Fashion Week womenswear for spring 2027 generated $795.6 million in earned media value on Instagram, up 59% from a year earlier and billed as an all-time high, according to FashionUnited's report on data from the agencies Karla Otto and Lefty. The headline is true as far as it goes. The detail underneath it is that one house, Dior, supplied almost all of the rise.
What the record number measures
Earned media value, or EMV, is an estimate of what the exposure would have cost as advertising. It is not revenue and not a count of shoppers. Glossy's write-up of the same data spells out the method: Lefty tracked Instagram in-feed posts from accounts with more than 10,000 followers between September 28 and October 7, and valued the impressions at a $100 cost per thousand. Glossy notes the figures cover only part of the audience.
The total itself differs by a rounding step between outlets. FashionUnited reports $795.6 million. Glossy gives $795.8 million. Both say 59% growth, and we use the lower figure in this piece.
Dior is the story
Glossy reports that Dior generated $360 million of the total and that its contribution was 91% of the year over year growth. Without Dior, Paris grew 6.3%. FashionUnited puts Dior's own growth at 297%. By our arithmetic, $360 million is about 45% of the whole city.
The driver was people, not clothes. FashionUnited says Dior nearly tripled its EMV through a continuing partnership with the Thai stars Lingling Kwong and Orm Kornnaphat, with Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna and Toheeb Jimoh also appearing. Glossy adds that Orm and Lingling alone generated 56% of Dior's EMV. They posted less than last season, 20 and 16 times against 26 and 24, yet the value rose. Their coverage started before the show, with departures from Thailand, fittings and time in Paris.

The rest of Paris barely moved
FashionUnited lists the top five brands by EMV with their growth: Dior (up 297%), Schiaparelli (up 343%), Chanel (up 14%), Miu Miu (up 82%) and Louis Vuitton (down 7%). Glossy gives their dollar totals beyond Dior: Schiaparelli $63.5 million, Chanel $56.7 million, Miu Miu $46.1 million and Louis Vuitton $37.5 million. Together with Dior that is about $564 million, roughly 71% of the city total by our arithmetic.
“In an age of content overload, there is cachet in staying quiet, leaving only those who were there in person to know you were there.”
Below the top, the picture is weaker. Among 62 brands tracked across both spring seasons, 28 grew and 34 declined, and the median change was a drop of 11%, Glossy reports. A record city total and a falling median brand can both be true when one house sits far out in front.
Milan and London for comparison
Lefty publishes its own season pages. Its Milan analysis, dated October 2, 2026, puts Milan Fashion Week at $311 million in EMV, up 27%, and credits the Thai actress Faye with lifting Ferragamo. Its London analysis, dated September 28, 2026, shows London at $27.3 million, down 24%, with total posts down 57% and Burberry generating $10.84 million of it.
London's agencies read the drop as a shift in behavior, and the quote above is theirs. Read together, the three cities show the same thing: reach is concentrating in a few brands and a few guests who bring organized fan communities, while ordinary posting is falling. We covered the show calendars and debuts in our New York recap and explained how the system works in what fashion week is.
Beyond the front row
Glossy's briefing shows the reach is not only celebrities. The makeup artist known as Homeless Makeup ranked third among Paris profiles, with content tied to Dior, Chanel and Schiaparelli, and hairstylist Sarawut Lapa ranked fourth. Beauty teams extended reach through collaborative posts, which are credited to whichever account starts them.
Schiaparelli entered the top five for the first time, with FashionUnited naming the Thai actors Napatsakorn Pingmuang and Harit Buayoi and the singer Tate McRae as its drivers. At Chanel, FashionUnited says the house invited the British commentator Chani Ra and had Rachel Ojuromi walk after she recreated its outfits in Nigeria.
What EMV does not tell you
It does not say anyone bought anything. Glossy's briefing puts one demand signal beside the EMV data: Fashionphile reported a 133% year over year rise in searches for Dior Book Totes after Jonathan Anderson's versions reached stores in January 2026. That is a resale platform's own search data, and it measures interest in a bag, not in the runway season. It is a different dataset and should not be added to the EMV total.
EMV also depends on the vendor's choices. A different CPM, a different window or a platform other than Instagram would change every number above. Lefty is an influencer marketing platform and Karla Otto is an agency, so the figures are a view from inside that business. We have seen no independent audit of them.
What a brand takes from this
For the houses, the practical reading is that casting now matters as much as the collection for reach. Dior's guests were organized fandoms with their own posting habits, and the posting began before the show. For smaller labels the same data points the other way. Glossy cites a brand adviser, Ashley Muench of Scène Studios, suggesting event images be reused in product ads, but that was a proposal, not a reported result.
Our take
The record is real as an Instagram estimate and thin as a verdict on Paris. Dior's season was extraordinary on this measure, and the city's median brand went backward. Skip any headline that says Paris fashion week got 59% more valuable. Watch whether Dior's next sales commentary connects any of this to demand, because nobody has shown that link yet.
