New York Fashion Week tickets: who gets in, and what the public can actually buy
The CFDA's official NYFW schedule is invitation and accreditation led, not a ticket sale. Ticketed shows exist, but from independent producers. Here is what we verified and what we could not.
Published automatically under our verification gates, without a person reading it first. A named byline on this site means someone did.
New York Fashion Week tickets are not something most people can buy. The shows on the official schedule are built for buyers, press and invited guests, and the schedule's owner, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, does not sell seats to them. Ticketed shows do exist during the same weeks, but they are produced by other companies under their own terms. Here is how access actually works, what we could verify this month, and what we could not.
What the official schedule is, and is not
The CFDA says it has owned and organized the Fashion Calendar and the Official New York Fashion Week Schedule since 2014. On July 1, 2026, it published the preliminary schedule for the spring-summer 2027 season. The week opened with Henry Zankov's debut collection as artistic director of Diane von Furstenberg on Thursday, September 10, and closed with Thom Browne on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. The CFDA counted 70 runway shows and designer presentations, with more collections shown by appointment and digitally. Ralph Lauren presented on the eve of the week, Wednesday, September 9.
That announcement is a schedule, not an admission policy. It lists houses and times. It says nothing about tickets, and it does not describe a public sale for any show on the list. The same release notes that the CFDA's fur-free policy applied to all brands on the schedule this season, and that out of respect for the 25th anniversary of September 11, the Friday schedule began at 10 a.m.
The CFDA's Fashion Calendar page makes a related point about who the information is for. Event details sit behind a subscription: the page says "Subscribe now to unlock full event details," and it sells annual plans to industry users. In other words, the calendar is a professional tool.
How people actually get in
Wikipedia's summary of New York Fashion Week describes admission as "typically in the form of accreditation, with specific events by invitation only," with attendees mostly other designers, celebrities and social media influencers. The article cites a New York Times piece by Sewell Chan, published September 6, 2007, headlined "Fashion Week: Not Open to the Public." The headline is old, but the structure it describes has not changed on the official schedule: designers and their publicists control the guest list.
For you, that means three realistic routes onto an official-schedule show:
“Fashion shows are the ultimate mega-marketing event, and historically, the consumer has been outside the door.”
- An invitation from the brand, usually through its press or client team.
- Press or buyer accreditation, which requires a professional reason to be there.
- Working the event, through a designer, model casting or production role.
None of those is something a ticket site can sell you, and we would not trust any listing that claims to.

The ticketed side of the week
Ticketed events do run in the same weeks, but they are not the CFDA's shows. NYFW.com describes itself as "NYFW: The Shows," says it provides designers an "unrivaled global platform" every February and September, and carries a 2026 copyright to Signet Entertainment. That is a separate business from the CFDA's calendar, and the site's schedule page, as we opened it, still pointed to the spring-summer 2026 season.
The name itself has been contested. Wikipedia's account of a trademark case says a judge held that a company called Fashion Week, Inc. had rights in the New York Fashion Week mark that were "limited" to "online entertainment ticket agency sales," while the CFDA and WME IMG held rights for the "broad ambit of organizing and producing fashion shows." The practical reading is that the phrase "New York Fashion Week tickets" can point to two different things: access to the official schedule, which is invitation-led, and consumer ticket sales run by independent producers.
We need to be plain about a limit here. Search results for this topic are dominated by travel and storage company guides that list specific venues and prices for September 2026 consumer shows. None of those came from an organizer's own ticketing page, so we have not printed their prices. If you want to buy, go to the producer's own site, read what the ticket includes (a seat, a standing spot, a specific time slot), and confirm the date. Treat any listing that calls itself "official NYFW" with suspicion until you can match it to the CFDA calendar.
An earlier attempt to sell access
The industry has tried to monetize the interest before. In July 2017, Glossy reported that IMG, then the show runner for many New York shows, launched "NYFW: The Experience," a program for luxury consumers who could not get an invitation. It offered two packages with show access, backstage tours and premium seating, and it required an application and a fee.
IMG's then co-president, Mark Shapiro, told WWD: "Fashion shows are the ultimate mega-marketing event, and historically, the consumer has been outside the door." The quote, as Glossy relayed it, dates from nine years ago. We could not confirm whether the program still exists in that form, so read it as history, not a current offer.
What comes next on the calendar
The CFDA's calendar page lists the next dates as of October 12, 2026:
- NYFW Bridal: October 13 to 15, 2026. The CFDA says its application for brands was open for the October edition.
- New York Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2027: February 8 to 12, 2027.
The February dates are the ones to plan around if you are asking how to get into New York Fashion Week. How we grade the access claims
The claim to test is "anyone can get tickets to New York Fashion Week." On the official schedule, the evidence we opened points the other way: the CFDA publishes a schedule, not a ticket sale, and the reference account of admission is invitation and accreditation. On the consumer side, tickets exist, but they are sold by other producers for other shows, and we could not verify current prices from the sellers themselves.
Our take
Skip any "official NYFW ticket" resale listing for a show on the CFDA schedule, because we could find no evidence that the CFDA sells them. If you want to sit in a room with a runway, look at the ticketed shows from independent producers and buy only from the producer's own page, with the date and inclusions matched. If you want an official-schedule show, the realistic route is an invitation or accreditation, and the next opening for that is the February 8 to 12, 2027 week. We will update this page when the CFDA publishes the preliminary schedule for that season.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get tickets to New York Fashion Week?
For shows on the CFDA's official schedule, the route is an invitation or press or buyer accreditation, not a ticket purchase. Independent producers sell tickets to separate consumer shows, which you should buy only from the producer's own site.
Can the public attend New York Fashion Week?
Not at most official-schedule shows. Wikipedia describes admission as typically by accreditation, with specific events by invitation only. Ticketed consumer shows exist from independent producers, but they are not the CFDA's schedule.
Does the CFDA sell New York Fashion Week tickets?
We found no evidence that it does. The CFDA's July 1, 2026 release publishes the schedule of 70 shows and presentations and does not mention tickets. Its Fashion Calendar is a subscription product for industry users.
When is the next New York Fashion Week?
The CFDA calendar lists New York Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2027 for February 8 to 12, 2027, and NYFW Bridal for October 13 to 15, 2026.
Is NYFW.com the official New York Fashion Week site?
NYFW.com calls itself "NYFW: The Shows" and carries a 2026 copyright to Signet Entertainment. The CFDA says it owns and organizes the Official NYFW Schedule, so check any ticket against the CFDA calendar.
What was NYFW: The Experience?
In July 2017 Glossy reported that IMG launched a paid program giving luxury consumers access to shows, with an application and fee. We could not confirm whether it still runs in that form.
